What Does Not Grow on Hydroponic Towers?

Root vegetables on hydroponic towers:

For starters, root vegetables such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, cassava, yams, horseradish, parsnips, taro, Daikon, rutabaga, salsify, Jerusalem artichokes, ginger, and turmeric cannot be grown using our hydroponic towers.

Although beetroots grow using our technology, they are not adapted to hydroponic tower farming as they give a meager crop yield and weirdly shaped veggies.

The only root vegetable that grows successfully on hydroponic towers is kohlrabi, a cold-weather vegetable.

Onions and garlic do not grow on a Tower Garden:

From the allium family, you cannot grow garlic, onions and shallots.

However, you can also grow scallions (green onions), chives, and leeks that belong to the allium family.

Also, perennial shrubs and trees belonging to the Ericaceae and Rosaceae families do not grow on hydroponic towers. These include blueberries, cranberries, blackberries, lingonberries, raspberries, boysenberries, etc.

Using common sense:

Considering our massive presence on social media, we have received quite a few silly questions over the years such as: can I grow pineapples? can I grow coconuts? mangoes? can I grow apples? oranges? lemons? Etc. This article will not list every crop that does not grow on Tower Garden technology. Coconuts? Ha ha!

Given the information above, we trust our customers’ common sense regarding “the obvious”!

And yes, in this blog post, we have referred to our vertical farming technology as hydroponic towers and not aeroponic towers. The reason is very simple: although very different from conventional hydroponics, aeroponics is still a branch of hydroponics. In other words, whether we refer to our aeroponic towers as hydroponic towers or not, both wordings are correct.
